An expansive exploration and celebration of the botanical heritage of Cymru, researching the etymology of Welsh plant names, folklore, mythology and history, featuring photography and text. The archive is available here, and as a monthly newsletter via substack/email. The project also features wildflower walks and a podcast in the making: a rich audio version of the WWP essays, including atmospheric soundscapes and an original score of field recordings and harp. In collaboration with producer Zee Rahim (Soho radio).
May 2025
The first instalment of a larger photography, video and audio project about underwater botanical habitats in Wales, exploring the duality of existing between two worlds: both in and out of water, simultaneously below the surface and above, investigating the inhabitants, atmospheres and perimeters of both plains. You can see more of the project here.
2022 - ongoing
My vibrant botanical business herb & all features illustrated seed-kits, cards, prints and paper, encouraging people to grow their own edible plants sustainably and learn about Welsh plant names and folklore. I design, illustrate and produce all products by hand from my Pembrokeshire studio, using organic seeds and recycled paper/card. I stock numerous independent gift shops and galleries across Wales, including Glynn Vivian Gallery, St David’s Cathedral Gift Shop, Oriel Mon, Plas Glyn y Weddw and more.
April 2025
A photography project based at the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve at Cilgerran, Hides / Cuddfannau captures a specific way of viewing and engaging with nature. Structures designed to enable inconspicuous observation of wildlife also restrict what can be seen - segments of the outdoors with a familiar screen-like glow - questioning how we access nature and how what is considered ‘wild’ is often shaped and constructed by humans. You can see the project here.
November 2024
My first release in over ten years of making music, the EP features atmospheric vocals and rich instrumentation by long-term musical collaborators Alex Hill and Coral Kindred-Boothby.
Featuring three songs cut from a larger album in the making, the songs speak to the emotional manoeuvres and mental gymnastics performed when navigating relationships as a young woman, as well as the transformations that occur when we interrogate internalised narratives about what we should accept for ourselves.
September 2023
An MSc research project exploring how British botanic gardens understand the term ‘decolonising’ and to what extent their respective gardens are attempting to do this. The project featured in-depth interviews with members of staff from seven different botanic gardens in England and Wales, including the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
You can see elements from the dissertation here.
